About the Exhibition
The 2014 Harnett Biennial of American Prints is the eleventh competitive national exhibition organized by the University of Richmond Museums. Open to all forms of prints, the exhibition is presented as a celebration and examination of contemporary printmaking by artists throughout the United States. The Harnett Biennial will be on view from October 28 to December 12, 2014, in the Joel and Lila Harnett Museum of Art, University of Richmond Museums.
Eligibility & Media
• The exhibition is open to all artists residing in the United States.
• Entries must be in the category of printmaking using any traditional and/or experimental techniques and media.
• Eligible entries include prints on paper using, but not limited to, such media as intaglio, relief, planographic, stencil, monotype, and digital processes (no giclée reproductions are allowed).
• Photographs on paper are eligible.
• Prints must have been completed in the last two years.
Accepted Prints
Prints must be ready for installation; they must be framed under plexiglas (no glass allowed); work must be securely mounted and framed with all necessary hardware attached for hanging.
Delivery & Return of Prints
Accepted prints may be hand-delivered or shipped prepaid and arrive at the Museum on or before October 8. Prints will be returned following the exhibition (after December 16) in the Joel and Lila Harnett Museum of Art. Prints will be returned in the same carton in which they were received, and by the same shipping method. Prepaid return forms included in the original shipping will be used for the return shipping.
Sales & Awards
Sales will be encouraged, and a commission of 20% will be collected on all work sold through the exhibition. Several purchase awards will be offered. The Executive Director of University Museums in consultation with the juror will select the awards. These prints will become part of the collection of the Joel and Lila Harnett Print Study Center, University of Richmond Museums.

The $35.00 entry fee includes 1 to 3 images. MasterCard and Visa are accepted. Check or money order must be made payable to the University of Richmond Museums.

About the Juror
The juror of this biennial is Mary Fisher, Founder of Mary Fisher Clinical AIDS Research and Education (CARE) Fund at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Fisher is an American designer who has survived AIDS and cancer to become a globally recognized artist, author, advocate, and social entrepreneur. She made history in 1992 when she addressed the Republican National Convention with a speech about HIV and AIDS advocation.

The University of Richmond Museums serve the university’s students and community, the greater Richmond area, and statewide, national, and international audiences. The Museums provides the opportunity for the appreciation, knowledge, and scholarship of art, cultural history, and science through the collections, exhibitions (on-campus and traveling), and scholarly publications. The collections of the University Museums include approximately 100,000 objects, ranging from gemstones and shells, to decorative arts and artifacts from many cultures, to prints from the Renaissance to the present, to contemporary paintings and sculpture.
